The SAT and ACT are two important tests a high school student may take in their high school career. The tests are used by colleges for admission. Colleges accept either or both of the tests.

“It’s important to take the tests because it opens the door to more opportunities and also gives you the opportunity to see your strengths and weaknesses,” Counselor Roland Cadena said.

The SAT can be a very difficult test to take. It is a 3 hour and 45 minute test that it focused on general reasoning skills, advanced vocabulary and is on a complex scoring that doesn’t count against you if you don’t answer a question. It costs $54 to take the test.

“Taking the SAT was tough but I did get the score I needed to go to the college I’ve always dreamed of going to,” senior McKenzie Murphy said.

The ACT is a 2 hour and 55 minute test. The test is designed to measure the students’ academic achievement in English, Mathematics, Reading and Science. The score is based on the number of correct answers with no penalty on incorrect answers.

“The ACT was hard but it wasn’t as hard as the SAT,” senior Sabrina Rackley said.
